The Sons of the American Revolution are direct descendants of those patriots that achieved the independence of the American people. The objectives of our organization are intended to perpetuate a more profound reverence for the principles of the government founded by our forefathers. As part of a national effort, the Kansas Society supports and promotes four youth recognition and honors programs. They are Joseph Rumbaugh Orations Contest, Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest, George & Stella Knight Essay Contest, and ROTC and JROTC Recognition.
The competition begins at the (local) chapter level. Chapter winners participate in the state-level competition. Scholarship recognition is received by the best qualifier. That person then competes at the National level where a much larger scholarship recognition is awarded.
Additionally, 3rd to 5th grade students interested in the American Revolution are welcome to participate in the Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest, which is open to public school, parochial, homeschooled, Scouting, or Children of the American Revolution member students.
Middle school students, including private, church-based, and homeschooled students in the 6th-9th grades, are invited to participate in the Sgt. Moses Adams Memorial Middle School Brochure Contest. All entries must go through a school, scouting organization, or CAR society, and all entries begin at the local Chapter level.
